Dr. Annette Bradford
Consultant and researcher

Dr. Annette Bradford lectures on Oxford EMI courses for East Asia. She is an EMI researcher and a member of the Oxford EMI consultancy team. Annette is an Oxford EMI Associate and is currently based in Indonesia. 

Annette has a doctorate in Education Administration and Policy Studies from The George Washington University in the USA. She is both a respected EMI researcher and a university teacher. Her research focuses on the internationalisation of Higher Education. Annette has a special interest in how EMI can help students and universities fulfil their international aspirations, and she has published widely on this topic. 

Annette lived in Japan for many years. Her co-edited volume English-Medium Instruction in Japanese Higher Education: Policy, Challenges, and Outcomes (Multilingual Matters, 2018 with H. Brown) highlights the drivers of EMI growth and the impacts that EMI is having on universities in Japan. Annette is also co-editor for Routledge’s Focus on English-Medium Instruction in Higher Education series. Her previous positions include Associate Professor at Meiji University in Tokyo and Council on Relations Hitachi International Affairs Fellow. As well as research, Annette has years of experience as a university teacher in EMI liberal arts and English-language education.
