Who is it for?

Oxford EMI courses are for teachers in Higher Education, especially in institutions which are internationalising.

Oxford EMI courses equip university lecturers in all disciplines (Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Medicine, Maths, Sciences…) with new skills and teaching techniques to teach their international classes in English with confidence.

Time: University teachers are busy researchers and teachers and do not have much time to dedicate to training – We are aware of this. Our courses are online and face-to-face and specifically adapted to teachers’ time constraints.

University lecturers learn how to overcome the specific challenges which arise when teaching their academic subject in English; how to make their lectures motivating and interesting; how to make their students succeed in EMI and attain the best outcomes. Participants gain a huge amount of confidence in their ability to use English and new teaching skills specifically adapted to an international EMI teaching and learning context . With this support, teachers are confident in their EMI teaching and contribute to an institution’s ability to internationalise and be successful.

Oxford EMI courses can help your institution contribute to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) as our courses work on cross-disciplinary and SDG principles.

The courses are taught by our team of EMI specialists who are experienced teacher trainers, researchers and academics themselves.

Top-ranking Universities, Grandes Ecoles and Vocational Colleges in Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America have participated in our courses and have equipped their teachers with the tools they need to successfully teach home and international students to a high quality standard. These universities are leaders in attracting international students. We are happy to refer you to people in these institutions who have already experienced our courses and the benefits they bring to the teachers and the institutions.

Language level: Participants need a B1 or Intermediate level to participate and will gain great confidence in their English during the course.

We adapt to your specific context so please contact us to discuss your institution’s needs.

“…before taking the course, we thought EMI just as studying English. To our surprise, after joining the course, we all found that we could also be given many teaching skills and ideas by top-flight English lecturer”

“Before the course, I thought that EMI is aimed to improve English teaching skills. But I noticed at the first lecture that my presumption was not correct…It was the comprehensive packages for teaching skills and pedagogical Methods in English”.
