In line with our commitment to the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) – and our goal to advance research-based, effective English Medium Instruction (EMI) teaching practices globally, Oxford EMI is pleased to announce a fully-funded scholarship opportunity to international EMI lecturers.
Successful applicants will receive a full scholarship to attend our international online, trainer-led EMI training course in August 2026.
Eligibility criteria
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Discipline: Must be a lecturer in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) subject at a Higher Education Institution.
- Current Role: Already teaching their subject through English (EMI).
- Geographic Location: Based in one of the following eligible countries/territories: Algeria, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Thailand, UAE, or Uzbekistan.
Scholarship winner commitments
By applying for this scholarship, applicants agree to fulfill the following requirements, if selected:
- Full Attendance: Attend all live online sessions, held weekdays from 11:00 – 12:30 BST between Friday, 14th August and Friday, 21st August (inclusive).
- Independent Learning: Complete all online learning materials (up to 3 hours per day).
- Reflective Writing: Write and submit a blog post detailing their course experience and insights.
- Follow-Up Engagement: Attend a recorded post-course online evaluation and discussion 1 month and 6 months after the course. Recordings may be used for further internal uses such as training and research. It may also be used online (social media, website) and offline (quotes and screenshots on brochures and other printed formats) for marketing purposes.
